AAC 4 INCLUSION – NEWSLETTER#1

The First Newsletter of the AAC 4 INCLUSION - Erasmus+ KA2 Projetc Cooperation in VET is now available online

UNO – Asociación para el desarrollo socioemocional de la persona, la sociedad y para la cooperación internacional from Valencia – partner responsible for communication of the AAC 4 Inclusion project, releases the first informative newsletter that retraces the most important stages achieved to date for the development of the project activities.

The newsletter is part of the communication strategy that each partner will follow to spread the issues addressed by the project in their territory and among their stakeholders in support of the inclusion of people with disabilities through the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

The AAC is an approach that aims to offer an alternative modality to those who, in addition to being excluded from verbal and oral communication due to congenital or acquired pathologies, also have cognitive deficits, more or less severe. Through a set of strategies, tools and techniques, AAC does not aim to replace verbal language, rather, it "augments" it by accompanying the word with the symbol and supporting verbal production and the possible emergence of verbal language in people with difficulties.

The AAC 4 INCLUSION project aims to raise awareness and train operators who work with different abilities in the use of this particular approach, strengthening and updating their technical-professional skills. After an initial research phase aimed at mapping the professional updating needs of operators in this specific area, a specific Vademecum will be outlined with technical indications, strategies and operational tools for the professional use of AAC. The contents of the Vademecum will also be used as a basis for the training of a group of operators who will use the techniques learned directly with their users, contributing to an increasingly inclusive training and educational system.

The communication strategy includes the issuing of periodic newsletters corresponding to key stages in the development of the activities.
