Hosted by the Polish partners MODE Foundation and Zespol Szkol Nr 5 VET school, on 18-19 June 2024, the European FASHION-UP team met in Wroclaw for the first technical coordination meeting of the project.
The partners analyzed the state of the art of the “Upcycling Learning Framework” (UpLeaF), the theoretical framework introducing the upcycling concept as creative reuse and valorization of garments and fabrics to waste as an eco-friendlier strategy to approach fashion. They also planned the official publication as OER of this first project output, which will be available in English from the project website by the beginning of September 2024. The UpLeaf is the result of the preliminary research phase carried out in the partner countries, exploring the issues related to a fashion that is more attentive to environmental sustainability and to the circular economy principles and connecting them with upcycling process, as interesting starting point for development and enrichment for the artisan tailoring sector. The Framework’s inputs will constitute the base to design and outline the contents of the original Training Program for the fashion upcycling within the artisan tailoring sector, which is the real project core (UpTraK - Upcycling Training Kit)
During the meeting, implementation methodology and timing to set up the several training modules constituting the Program were discussed, as well as for the development of the teaching materials and video tutorials that will complete the FASHION-UP training offer on upcycling techniques in the field of artisan tailoring.
The second meeting day, held in Wałbrzych at the Zespol school, was enriched by the interesting contribution brought by ENTIRE_M, a local company leader in the production of eco-friendly and high quality sustainable technical garments, showing how a green vision of fashion is perfectly compatible with a high-level business.
