Under the general coordination of the OMA – Osservatorio Mestieri d’Arte (Applicant), the kick-off meeting of the FASHION-UP project was held in Florence (31/01-01/02/2024) with the aim to sustain the innovation of the artisanal tailoring sector focusing on creativity and environmental sustainability and training new professionals specialized in Fashion Upcycling. This specific tailoring technique, based on a green concept of fashion, is well suited to artisanal creations and gives a unique peculiarity to the clothes that are made thanks to its use.
The project, realized in collaboration with the Centro Machiavelli (Florence), Circular Economy Portugal di Lisbona, MODE Foundation, Wroclaw (PL), Zespol Szkol Nr 5 im. M. T.Hubera (PL), Politistikos Syllogos Atsipopoulou (GR) e EELI -European Education & Learning Institute (GR), - is aimed at creating a training proposal - a real Training Program - focused on the themes of Fashion Upcycling and business start-ups in the green artisan tailoring sector.
The project core will be expressed in a pilot course to be held in each partner country, based on the theoretical and technical-practical contents relating to this specific niche of artisanal tailoring and developed by the professionalizing program UpTraK (Up-Cycling Training Kit). The original up-cycled creations made by the students will be collected in a special Fashion Catalogue
