ERASMUS+ YOU-ROPE Project – Youth from Spain, Greece, Romania and Italy met each other in Florence to discuss about the Rites of Passage

From 01 to 05 April 2019 the Florence hosted the Learning Teaching Activities of the YOU-ROPE Project -Youth Rites of Passage in Europe (ERASMUS+ K.A 2, Strategic Partnerships for YOUTH, Development of Innovation)

The Italian partners Cepiss Coop., Centro Machiavelli and LabCom managed at Sonoria Center in Florence the Learning Teaching Activities to be developed within the YOU-ROPE Project.

Youth from 16 to 18 years old coming from Spain, Greece, Romania and Italy met each other for a working week, intercultural exchange and shared discussion with their teachers and youth workers on the rites of passage toward adulthood. The young people participated to thematic workshops, intercultural activities and outdoor training to know similarities and differences between their different realities and strengthen both their personal identity and their sense of belonging to the community by sharing rites of passage.

The week was closed with a final event of celebration of the whole experience, in which all the works realized during the course have been showed and discussed. The “Istituto Alberghiero Buontalenti” of Florence hosted this event and its students also arranged a buffet-dinner for all participants.

The Learning Teaching Activities done in Florence are part of the widest frame of actions carried out in each partner country to identify and share positive rites of passage toward adulthood, knowing how they impact on personal, social and civil growth of youth.

Special guest for this working week was Prof. David Blumenkrantz, theorist of “Rites of Passage Experiences” (ROPEs). His theory inspired the innovative activities developed by the You-Rope project and realized with European value. The USA academic participated to the project activities, directly meeting the youngest and inviting them to reflect on their own ritual path to adulthood.
