The project’s idea arises from the desire to actively intervene in the Polish district of Wadowice, a region rich in small and medium-sized enterprises working in the production of furnitures, and vocational schools specialized in woodworking.
However , the gap between the number of young people owning a carpentry qualifications and the demand for workforce in the local factories, coupled with the absence from the school programs of vocational training of a specific training in art restoration, have opened the doors to a project addressed to young unemployed people with basic qualifications in woodwork from all over the region of Wadowice, in order to involve them in an entrepreneurial initiative.
The project is the result of a bilateral collaboration between Centro Machiavelli and the Polish Training Agency EST, with its headquarters in Wadowice.
Centro Machiavelli, thanks to its strategic location, the years of experience in the promotion and management of courses in art and crafts (Firenze nell'Arte) as well as the previous participation in European projects (The Memory Project Exchange) on the development of traditional crafts, will be responsible for the production of educational materials on the craft of woodworking skills, which will be used in the construction of a training course (lasting a week) in the territory of Florence, which will involve in a European mobility, 14 young polish artisans.
The heart of the project is fully integrated in the Annual Work Programme adopted by the European Commission and the priorities of the specific field of youth: to promote the social inclusion of young and well-being, particularly through projects that address the problem of youth unemployment, as well as projects to encourage the participation of unemployed youth in the program.
